- I am a:Long Term Wheelchair User
- Chair Pro's:nice solid feel, good upright back. Footrests clear the large castors well, even when swung inward.
- Chair Con's:rear wheels set too far back. User brake lever works in wrong direction
- Best Used:Indoors
- Recommend It:I would recommend this wheelchair
The major problem with this wheelchair is that the rear wheel is mounted on the rear of the frame. This throws a lot of weight on the castors which makes it hard for a user to mount door thresholds especially when turning from a hallway (at an angle). It also is longer meaning I have to swing the footrests to close my lift door to go upstairs. I forsee problems using this wheelchair as a user outdoors. The weight on the castors would make offroading difficult, even an attendant would have to go backwards. Also the forward weight would pull the front to face downhill and the much lowered rear wheel traction makes this a fair weather, smooth, level path device.
The arms are swing up but in place they are surprisingly firm. as a seat it is brilliantly comfortable, firm and easy to position yourself in. The alloy frame is thin tube like my steel antique Remploy Roller (my gardening wheelchair) and it is noticeably light. I have had over a dozen wheelchairs, this is both the lightest, and the most rigid folding frame chair I have had. I think it may still be for some time.
